The two smallest versions of the Varma are great for catching perch and cyprinids. The largest version works wonders on pike-perch and the pike of forest ponds.
When you start fishing at a new hole, you should always introduce yourself to the fish: make a few quick 50-60 cm long tugs to attract the fish. These long tugs will make the lure zigzag across a wide area and the interested fish will gather beneath your hole. After making the introductions, begin the actual ice fishing.
